The Story of RJ1200

RJ 1200 is found at 1200 AM and broadcasts a strong and clear signal throughout the GVRD, the Fraser Valley (Abbotsford) through to Howe Sound (Squamish) and Vancouver Island. RJ 1200 is a wholly-owned subsidiary of i.t. Productions Ltd., parent company for Radio Rim Jhim and also producer of 10 weekly television programs shown on OMNI TV and Shaw Multicultural. The company was founded in 1984 and is privately owned and operated by Shushma Datt.

The license was awarded by the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) in July 2005 and specifically cited the success of Radio Rim Jhim and Shushma’s experience as primary reasons for the award. The new AM station features upbeat music and programming for younger generations of South Asians who are integrated into Westcoast Canadian culture but also enjoy Bollywood-style music and humor.

There are 17 languages broadcasting on RJ 1200, including Hindustani, Punjabi and English. On Sundays, a line-up of international programmes is featured, including Filipino, Italian and Farsi. For complete programme details, click our schedule button.
